The Last 90 Days of the Year: My Blueprint for Finishing Strong in Business and Life

The Year Isn’t Over Yet

There is something about the final 90 days of the year that makes everything feel urgent.

Suddenly, we start looking at the goals we wrote in January.

Some were achieved.

Some changed.

And some are still sitting quietly on the list, waiting for us to decide whether they really matter.

For me, the final months of the year have never been about panicking because time is running out.

They are about getting clear about what matters and executing with intention.

After more than 15 years of building businesses, leading teams, growing brands, mentoring women, and balancing family and purpose, I have learned that you don’t need another year to make meaningful progress.

Sometimes, you simply need to use the final 90 days better.

The question isn’t:

“How much time do I have left?”

The better question is:

“What can I accomplish with the time I have?”

Why the Last 90 Days Matter

The final quarter can be one of the most important periods in business.

It is a time to review what happened, identify what still matters, and make deliberate decisions about what comes next.

But there is also a temptation to do too much.

New ideas suddenly look attractive.

Every opportunity feels urgent.

And entrepreneurs can easily confuse activity with progress.

I have learned to do something different.

I simplify.

I look at the bigger picture and ask:

• What worked this year?
• What didn’t?
• What is still worth pursuing?
• What needs to be eliminated?
• What can realistically be accomplished before December 31?
• What needs to move into the next year?

This kind of reflection is important because effective goal setting isn’t simply about creating more goals. It’s about creating the right goals.

Before I create another plan, I review the previous one.

But your previous results contain valuable information.

I ask myself:

What actually moved the business forward?

Maybe it was a particular product.

Maybe it was a partnership.

Maybe it was a marketing strategy.

Maybe it was simply consistency.

Then I ask:

What consumed time without producing meaningful results?

That question can be uncomfortable, but it is necessary.

Not everything you started deserves to continue.

Sometimes the smartest business decision is to stop doing something.

Step Two: Choose Your Three Biggest Priorities

When there are only 90 days left, focus becomes your greatest advantage.

I don’t believe entrepreneurs need a list of 30 priorities.

They need to know the three things that matter most.

This principle is reflected in my approach to daily execution as well.

Rather than overwhelming myself with endless tasks, I focus on meaningful actions that move the business forward.

For the final quarter, your three priorities might be:

Revenue:
What must happen financially before the year ends?

Growth:
What customer, audience, product, or market do you need to develop?

Foundation:
What system, team, process, or structure needs to become stronger?

Once you know these three priorities, everything else should be evaluated against them.

If an activity doesn’t support one of them, ask yourself whether it really deserves your attention.

Step Three: Eliminate the Distractions

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in business is that growth isn’t always about adding more.

Sometimes, growth comes from subtraction.

During the final 90 days, I encourage entrepreneurs to identify:

• Unproductive meetings
• Unnecessary expenses
• Projects with no clear return
• Relationships that constantly drain energy
• Content that doesn’t serve the brand
• Business activities that keep you busy but don’t move you forward

You cannot finish strong while carrying everything you’ve accumulated throughout the year.

Some things need to be left behind.

This is also why discipline matters.

Step Four: Turn Big Goals Into 90-Day Actions

“Grow my business” is a goal.

It is not a plan.

“Generate 30% more revenue before the end of the year” gives you something to measure.

But even that needs to become actionable.

Break the next 90 days into three stages.

Days 1–30: Clarify

Use the first month to establish exactly what you’re trying to accomplish.

Review:

• Revenue
• Customers
• Products
• Marketing
• Expenses
• Team performance
• Personal priorities

Then identify your biggest opportunities.

Days 31–60: Execute

This is where you stop planning and start moving.

Launch the campaign.

Call the customers.

Improve the product.

Follow up with the opportunity.

Have the difficult conversation.

Build the system.

Execution is where goals become real.

Days 61–90: Finish

The final month isn’t the time to start ten new projects.

It is the time to finish what matters.

Follow up.

Measure.

Improve.

Close.

Celebrate.

Then prepare intelligently for the next year.

Step Five: Protect Your Energy

Finishing strong doesn’t mean finishing exhausted.

As a woman, entrepreneur, mother, mentor, and leader, I’ve learned that your energy is an important business resource.

You cannot make your best decisions when you are constantly running on empty.

That’s why I believe structure matters.

My day isn’t about trying to do everything at once.

It’s about knowing what deserves my attention at different moments.

You don’t need to do everything today. You need to do what matters today.

Step Six: Look at the Numbers

Entrepreneurship is exciting when you’re talking about vision.

But vision without financial awareness can become expensive.

Before the year ends, I recommend reviewing:

• Revenue
• Expenses
• Profit margins
• Cash flow
• Customer acquisition
• Best-performing products
• Underperforming products
• Upcoming financial obligations

You need to know what your business is actually telling you.

Numbers don’t destroy the dream.

They help you build it intelligently.

If the answer is no, I don’t need to force it.

Building a lasting business requires the ability to say no to good opportunities so you can say yes to the right ones.

Step Eight: Create Your “Finish Strong” List

For the final 90 days, I recommend creating a simple list with five categories:

Revenue

What financial result must I achieve?

Customers

Who do I need to serve, retain, or reconnect with?

Visibility

How do I want my brand to be positioned before the year ends?

Operations

What needs to be fixed, automated, delegated, or improved?

Personal

What do I need to protect in my family, health, relationships, and personal life?

This keeps business and life connected.

Because success isn’t simply about building a bigger company.

It’s about building a life that can actually support the success you’re creating.

What If You Didn’t Achieve Your Goals?

Let me say something every entrepreneur needs to hear:

You are not a failure because you didn’t accomplish everything you planned in January.

Sometimes the goal changed because you changed.

Sometimes circumstances changed.

Sometimes you discovered that what you wanted six months ago isn’t what you need today.

That’s okay.

Review the goal.

Keep it if it still matters.

Modify it if necessary.

Release it if it no longer aligns.

But don’t spend the final 90 days punishing yourself for the first 270.

Use the information.

Learn.

Adjust.

Move.

The Goal Is Momentum, Not Perfection

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is believing that they need a perfect finish.

You don’t.

You need meaningful progress.

One more customer.

One stronger system.

One profitable campaign.

One important partnership.

One difficult decision finally made.

One process documented.

One goal completed.

Small wins compound.

And when you consistently build those wins, they can become the foundation for your next breakthrough.

90-Day Question

When I look at the final months of a year, I don’t ask myself:

“How can I prove that I did enough?”

I ask:

“What can I do now that will make the woman I become next year grateful that I didn’t give up?”

That question changes everything.

It moves you away from panic and toward purpose.

Away from comparison and toward clarity.

Away from busy work and toward meaningful work.

Finish the Year Like You Mean It

You don’t need a perfect January to have a powerful December.

You don’t need to accomplish everything.

You don’t need to become a completely different entrepreneur overnight.

You simply need to get clear about what matters and give those things your best effort for the next 90 days.

Review your goals.

Eliminate distractions.

Protect your energy.

Watch your numbers.

Execute consistently.

And finish with intention.

Because the end of the year isn’t just an ending.

It is the foundation you’re laying for everything that comes next.
